Maybe you’re in need of inspiration for your next outfit, maybe you want to find out what the latest trends for this year are, or maybe you want to stand out. If you’ve neglected the fact that you can always spice up any outfit using a snazzy hat, then this article is for you.
Here’s a list of the Top 10 Celebrity Hats of 2022!
On the red carpet at the Met Gala this year, Emma Corrin wore a classic top hat whilst debuting her “King of the Dudes” inspired look. Her androgynous attire was created by Miu Miu, fitting the dress code “gilded glamour, white tie”. It was inspired by Evander Berry Wall, a prominent New York Socialite who was given the title of “King of the Dudes” in the 1880s. Corrin and the designers chose him as inspiration because they felt he fit the Met Gala dress code perfectly, as he owned a suit for every day of the year. The classic top hat is even mentioned in his obituary, “He never went to LongChamps in season without his silk hat”.
Moving on to Sophie Turner, wearing the handmade Emma Brewin cloud bucket hat. The fluffy faux-fur baby blue hat is 100% vegan and 100% cotton lined. As the hat is handmade, it can take up to a month for it to be assembled. Bucket hats were originally worn as protection from the rain for Irish farmers, however the faux-fur on this hat makes it good for keeping warm or for covering yourself from the sun. The designer is admired by many celebrities, including Emily Ratajkowski, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Dua Lipa.
Dua Lipa appears to have a love for hats that extends beyond Emma Brewin’s trendy line. Earlier this year, she displayed the craftcore trend on her family’s trip to St Barts with her crochet bucket hat. The singer showed off her crocheted Memorial Day hat in a mirror selfie on Instagram and received Paris Hilton’s stamp of approval, with heart eyes from the icon.
Next up is Andrew Garfield sniffing his girlfriend’s armpit or more importantly, sporting a brown baseball cap. It was clear the actor did not want to be photographed by paparazzi, since he was wearing sunglasses and… sniffing his girlfriend’s armpit. Who by the way, was also wearing a baseball cap. It’s the perfect disguise during a sunny day (or so he thought)!
Emma Watson appeared at the Harry Potter Reunion in a black baker boy hat. Designed and created by Maison Michel. The baker boy hat, also known as the newsboy cap, was the perfect choice for the reunion as it paralleled her character Hermione Granger’s preppy style. This elegant design of the hat is very flattering for an oval face shape like hers and paired well with her Victoria Beckham X Woolmark jumper and her black boots by Chloé.
If you’re looking for a unique hat, look no further! Cara Delevingne was spotted wearing the Toile de Jouy Reverse Silk Visor with a cap-style front, whilst shooting a campaign for Dior in Portofino. The entire outfit is a part of the Dioriviera capsule collection and was previously sold out due to popularity. However, the fluorescent silk visor is now back in stock! Combine it with pieces from the rest of the Dioriviera collection or perhaps, with neutral colours like black, white or beige.
Russell Brand wore a chic large brown hat to The Josephine Hart Poetry Hour after avoiding the public eye for quite some time. The hat was paired with a blue shirt and matching trousers detailed with mushrooms and purple and yellow Nike trainers. Others at the event opted for less eccentric looks and lacked a lavish hat like his.
A basic beanie never goes out of style – even in the summer, according to Tom Holland. This instagram post in the beanie features his parent’s NGO The Brothers Trust. “The trust is keen to shine a light on charities who struggle to be heard in the noisy and competitive not-for-profit sector – and charities who can best demonstrate the most effective use of funds to profit the people in need and not on bloated administration.”
It wouldn’t be a hat article without mentioning a certain member of the royal family… Princess Beatrice. The Princess is consistently seen in glamorous fascinators and hats at the many events she attends and never fails to impress. On the first day of Royal Ascot this year, she wore a fascinator comprised of a wicker headband with pink details, which was very well-received by the public.
Finally, another royal who definitely fits the bill for wearing one of the best hats of 2022 is Kate Middleton. People magazine called the fascinator she wore to a garden party in Buckingham Palace “Her Boldest Hat Yet”. A private dressmaker designed and created the pale green hat and its matching dress. The Duchess of Cambridge and possibly also Princess Beatrice could have two of the most unique hats in this list, as they are almost irreplicable.
Hats are an essential accessory and if there’s one thing that can be learned from reading about our favourite celebs in hats this year, it’s that every occasion is an appropriate occasion to wear a hat! Wear a fascinator, a top hat or a baker boy hat to your next classy event. Sport a baseball or a silk visor when it’s too hot outside. Put on a crocheted bucket hat or a beanie during the winter months. As far as fascinators go though, you might not be able to replicate the fascinators in this list, but you can definitely use them to influence your next purchase.
Use this list to find some inspiration and wear a hat to jump-start your wardrobe and feel trendy again. There’s no such thing as wearing hats too often!
